.--clipping, unknown newspaper, sometime in the 90's. The Liberty Monument is one dedicated basically to the superiority of the white race. For years and years it stood at the foot of Canal Street, that is, until someone in the last 10 years discovered that this monument isn't politically correct. It was agreed that the memorial could not be permanently removed, since it is a piece of history, but that it had to be moved to a less conspicuous place. It's ended up very near the entrance to the hotel garage at the Canal Place Westin. Most peope know who David Duke is. Dorothy Mae Taylor was a negro councilwoman; she was successful in getting an edict passed a while back which dictates that any Carnival krewes parading on the City streets must be integrated. At least 2 prominent krewes chose not to parade anymore. (r.i.p., Dorothy Mae). Harry Lee is neighboring Jefferson Parish's long-standing and colorful chinese-american sheriff. |
